Session 3

How to Make the AI Revolution Work for All: A North-South Debate

Saturday, 15 November 2025

15:35 - 16:50 (GMT+7)

Speakers & Moderator

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming nearly every aspect of human life—from healthcare and education to agriculture, governance, and industry. Yet while the pace of innovation accelerates, the distribution of its benefits remains deeply uneven. The Global North continues to dominate AI development, controlling much of the revolution, infrastructure, research, and capacity. Meanwhile, countries in the Global South face systemic barriers and are often left out in the discourse of governance-- from the issue of limited infrastructure to data protection. This raises urgent questions about fairness, access, and inclusion in this global shift.

As we navigate this transformative moment, critical questions must be asked: Who is setting the agenda for AI development, and how to make sure no one is left behind? How can we ensure the AI revolution truly serves the public good? How can we have a more equitable access in the global south? Who decides what counts as ethical, fair, or responsible AI—and on whose terms? This panel will explore how the AI revolution can be made to serve all of humanity beyond a few.
